Walk & Wade Adventures
If hiking and adventure is a little more your style, try our 'Walk & Wade Adventure' to experience northern Michigan's cold, clean waters up close and personal. During the summer months we trek the headwaters of our local rivers in search of the gorgeous Salvelinus fontinalis, the Brook Trout! We also stalk carp and smallmouth on the flats of Lake Michigan under the summer sun. These little beauties are eager to take a fly and fight hard for their small size. During the spring & fall we head to the lower stretches of the rivers to chase salmon & steelhead during their determined migratory runs from the 'big lake.' Your trip is finished off with a delicious shore lunch prepared streamside.
Into the BackcountryIf you want to get away from it all, let one of our guides take you on a backcountry trip you will not soon forget. Away from the crowds, fantastic fishing for feisty trout, and beautiful scenery that you just cannot get any other way. We have miles and miles of backcountry water waiting to be explored. Most of our guides are from our region and grew up chasin' trout through alders and old growth cedar swamps... getting to where the 'great' fishing truly is. The Pigeon River Country, which includes the exceptional waters of the Pigeon and Black Rivers is restricted to wade fishing only. The Jordan, Sturgeon & Upper Manistee rivers offer countless opportunities for colorful Brook Trout and 'hog-johnson' Browns. Let us show you where northern Michigan truly excels! |
Crystal WatersIf you're into chasing Bronzebacks or stalking Golden Bones, this is the trip for you! Long known as a best-kept secret, the shallow shoals surrounding Waugoshance Point provide harbor for tons of the warmwater trophies. If warmwater fly fishing is new to you, Smallmouth Bass provide for a day of fun on a fly rod. Carp, referred to as a 'trash fish' for years, provides an exciting game of cat and mouse due to their ultrasensitive and spooky nature... but hook one up and the reel screamin', drag rippin' runs will make you come back for more. Combined with the gorgeous views and crystal clear waters of Lake Michigan, untouched by modern human development, this is Lake Michigan flats fishing at its finest! |
