During the summer months, Boyne Outfitters offers complimentary fly fishing clinics to our resort guests at each of our northern Michigan resorts on a weekly basis.

Cast your line into a new sport or back into an old hobby with Boyne Outfitters at Boyne Mountain Resort! Our Fly Fishing School is the perfect course for anglers of all abilities to begin, practice, or perfect the pastime. Enjoy the great outdoors with helpful and knowledgeable instruction from the Boyne Outfitters crew. 

We keep the classes small, with 4 to 6 anglers in each class. This is to ensure that every student in our introductory fly fishing schools get the personal attention needed to learn the skills and knowledge necessary to catch trout on a fly rod. Topics covered include fly fishing theory, rigging a rod, casting, knot tying, stream etiquette and entomology. Other topics include trout behavior, reading the water, and playing, landing & releasing fish. The School is comprised of two segments - a classroom & outdoor casting segment at Boyne Mountain Resort in the morning, followed by a streamside lunch and on-water segment at the Everett Kircher Preserve in the afternoon.

These short, three-hour, on-stream instructionals identify a focus area and help you improve while others fall behind. To put it in laymans terms... learn new tactics, up your game, catch more fish. 

Smart Tactics Saturdays are designed for intermediate to advanced anglers looking to improve technique.
