"I'd rather be known as a great fly fisherman..." ~ Everett Kircher, Founder of Boyne Resorts
The Sturgeon River is the fastest river in Michigan's lower peninsula. Not quite whitewater, but cold and well oxygenated, the Sturgeon River has plenty of fantastic fishing opportunities along its 40 mile journey north to Burt Lake. Quick turns, scenic bluffs, and a variety of flora and fauna provide for a scenic experience. With its quick flow, the Sturgeon has fast runs, shallow riffles and deep pools which hold a good population of brown and rainbow trout. Migratory trout from Burt Lake offer opportunities for larger-than-average trout during certain months of the year.
